Our Church History

The Trinity Baptist Church began as a mission of the Oak Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Brother Louis R. Turk. We held our first service May 29th, 1958, in a rented double garage building located at 47th Terrace and Swartz Road in Kansas City, Kansas. The Trinity Baptist Church was officially organized January 31st, 1960, as an Independent Baptist Church with 27 charter members.

The church purchased a basement building located at 40th and Strong Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas. In August, we sold the building and moved to our present location in November 1964. The South Park Baptist Church previously located in this building disbanded with many of the members joining Trinity Baptist Church. The church later added a new auditorium to the building and met there for the 1st time in the spring of 1976.

We will be celebrating our 65th year as an Independent Baptist Church in 2025. During the Past 65 years we have been blessed to have been pastored by 5 men. Brother Louis R. Turk, Brother Al Pfluger, Brother Danny Hodgkins, Brother Larry Hagen and our current Pastor, Ed Thompson.

“This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”

1 Timothy 3:1
